Election for Catterick councillor

Richmondshire District Council is holding a by election next month to fill the vacancy in the Catterick ward.

The election – prompted by the death of Councillor Tony Pelton – will be held on August 18.

It is the second time this year that local people have gone to the polls to elect a new district councillor for the ward – earlier this year Simon Young was voted on to the council following the death of Derek Sankey.

Nominations close on July 22 at 4pm for anyone wishing to stand for election. Electors of Catterick Ward have until August 2 to register to vote. Applications to vote by post must be received by 5pm on August 3 and proxy applications by 5pm on August 10.
